Eating habits are changing towards a consumption of larger and larger amounts of processed food, high in calories, fat, saturated fat, sugar and salt, and low in fibre. This eating style, as well as leading a sedentary life are the main causes of the increase in obesity in the last few years, both in adults and among children.

These eating habits are created during childhood and are reinforced during adolescence, which makes it necessary for the schools to get actively involved in the nutritional education of the children and teenagers.

In addition to the Organic School Gardens, the Agricultural Council, in association with the Health Council, aims to give support to the activities that the schools of Altea are carrying out in order to improve the eating habits and nutritional education of children.
